01 Who we are
Ascend is an AI-powered fitness and wellness application developed and operated by Ascend App Co. ("Ascend," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website.
By using Ascend, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
02 What data we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account informationyour email address and password (hashed) when you create an account.
- Profile datayour fitness goals, training preferences, schedule, dietary restrictions, and any information you provide during onboarding or in-app.
- Progress photosphotos you voluntarily upload for body scan analysis. Stored securely and never shared or used for any purpose other than generating your personal insights.
- Health and activity datawith your permission, data from Apple HealthKit including sleep hours, steps, heart rate, and active calories. We only read this data; we never write to HealthKit.
- Usage datahow you interact with the app, such as workouts completed, check-in responses, and features used. This helps us improve the product.
- Device informationyour device type, OS version, and app version for debugging and support.
- Payment informationprocessed securely by Stripe. We never store your card details and only receive confirmation of successful payments.
03 How we use your data
We use the data we collect exclusively to provide and improve the Ascend service:
- To generate your personalized workout and meal plans
- To power your AI coach with context about your history and progress
- To analyze your progress photos and surface body composition insights
- To send push notifications about your training plan and progress
- To calculate your recovery score using HealthKit sleep data
- To improve AI accuracy using anonymized, aggregated data only — never your photos
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
We do not sell your data. We do not share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing purposes. Ever.
04 Storage & protection
Your data is stored on secure servers using industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Progress photos are stored in an isolated, access-controlled environment and are only accessible to the AI processing system and you.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete all your personal data within 30 days — including progress photos, conversation history, and profile information.
We limit internal access to your personal data to only those employees and contractors who need it to operate the service.
05 Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Accessrequest a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Correctionrequest that we correct inaccurate data
- Deletionrequest permanent deletion of your account and all associated data
- Portabilityrequest your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Withdrawal of consentrevoke HealthKit permissions at any time in iPhone Settings
- Opt out of marketingunsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email we send
To exercise any of these rights, reach out through the support section inside the app. We respond within 30 days.
06 Children's privacy
Ascend is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us through the app immediately and we will delete it promptly.
Users between 13 and 18 should obtain parental or guardian consent before using Ascend.
07 Policy changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
Continued use of Ascend after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If you do not agree, you may delete your account at any time.
